    Robotic complex to produce investment molds for Proton-PM

    Robotic complex to produce investment molds for Proton-PM

    Technology of precision investment casting is being increasingly used to produce high-tech products with complex shapes.
    Close

    This technology includes filling a ceramic model mold with molten metal, then separating the ceramic mold from the casting and cutting the cast part from gating system. The castings quality depends firstly on ceramic model molds manufacturing quality, the molds quality itself depends on many parameters, which are often contradictory, for example: mechanical strength of the ceramic mold before and after hardening, and at the same time easy removal after pouring and cooling; porous and at the same time a clean contact surface of the alloy with the mold. However, non-compliance or deviation of any parameter leads to reduced accuracy of the casting or even to rejects.

    In order to monitor the stability and controllability of process parameters during the ceramic model molds manufacturing, AtomIntelMash LLC has developed a line of robotic complexes “RoKoT” AMVR-1.01.00-00.00.00.00.000 to automate processes of manufacturing shell casting molds by investment casting.

    Robotization and automation of ceramic molds production process, implemented in RoKoT complexes, allows:

    • to increase stability and repeatability of processes of applying ceramic shell layers to the model mold by applying slurry and filling material by a robot;
    • to improve quality of casing layers application due to slurry temperature monitoring, as well as maintenance of strictly specified temperature and humidity in the premise, where the casing is applied;
    • to achieve high quality and stability of ceramic mold layers drying due to using a conveyor drying system designed specially for drying of complex geometry ceramic molds with deep inner cavities of complex shape. High system parameters are achieved by special individual system of molds blowing, temperature and humidity maintenance in drying area in a wide range and at the same time with high accuracy, constant drying parameters monitoring by the automated control system of the complex;
    • to work with large and heavy molds by using a robot to move the molds and eliminating manual operations while moving them;
    • to monitor and “fine-tune” the process by recording the complex operation parameters in the automated system database.

    This complex has already been implemented for Proton-PM.

    Technical upgrade of "Supercompactor" plant of FSUE "RADON”

    In 2017-2018, the technical upgrading of the “Supercompactor” plant was conducted consisting of the following tasks: upgrading of the 2000 ton pressing machine - changeover from 100L to 200L RW barrels;
    Close

    development, manufacture and commissioning of a robotic complex allowing to carry out all installation operations remotely and in an automated mode. KUKA KR 600 industrial robot from the robotic complex was equipped with a special grip and a machine vision television camera. A special grip should reliably hold barrels up to 300 kg without deforming their body and machine vision should ensure accurate positioning of brick in the MPC (metal protective) container when stacking bricks in it. Also, machine vision should provide remote and operational measurement of the height of barrels and compressed bricks. A rack was arranged inside the installation box for intermediate accumulation of bricks, which allowed the robot to optimize MPC filling by height when stacking bricks in it. Video is available at Radon

    Thanks to robotization of the pressing complex, it was possible to minimize the direct interaction of personnel with radioactive waste and reduce the volume of RW subject to final disposal.

    In order to do this, AL is equipped with various analytical instruments and process facilities, which are organized into process areas.

    Instruments and equipment are placed inside boxes ensuring personnel radiation protection and special environment (inert atmosphere, rarefaction, etc.) inside, as well as personnel work with samples.

    All of this (boxes themselves, boxed devices, operation parameters and environment control system) together make up a single full- functional product “AL FRM Boxes Complex”.

    Automated RW container handling system for SverdNIIkhimmash JSC

    Automated RW container handling system for SverdNIIkhimmash JSC

    AtomIntelMash LLC developed design documentation for a system of automated handling of RW containers in 2016, including an automatic guided (robotic) vehicle (AGV) and a control system.
    Close

    Using the lifting platform, the AGV installs/removes the NPC (non-return protective) container from the rack and moves the container along the set route between the process areas. The AGV movement can be controlled by an airborne automatic route tracking system, induction system or on the basis of machine vision. The AGV has a zero turning radius (pivot turn), as well as the ability to move in an arbitrary direction without turning the platform. The AGV operations are controlled automatically from the ACS upper level located in the operator’s room. Local control is provided.

    The AGV solved the problem of remote and automatic movement of ten-ton RW containers in a limited space due to the highly maneuverable design - zero turning radius.

    including a radiation protection box, a remote-controlled system for automated loading, unloading and moving of samples, systems for collecting information on the process and a video surveillance system.

    Rosatom held an industry session on robotics
    08/06/2024 Rosatom held an industry session on robotics

    Rosatom Service with the support of Rosatom State Corporation and Industry Center for Innovation Development held a session in the Robotics direction. It was attended by representatives of 39 enterprises of the nuclear industry.

    In the first session, Maxim Vinokurov, Deputy General Director for Robotics of Rosatom Services, gave a brief overview of the use and production of industrial robots in Russia in general and at Rosatom enterprises in particular. He explained that 36 robotic complexes are operating at 21 enterprises of State Corporation's five divisions - fuel, electric power, machine-building, ecological solutions and NWC.

    The robots used are mainly imported, but production of individual components has already been established at PO Mayak, the Alexandrov Research Technological Institute  (Sosnovy Bor), RFNC VNIIEF and RFNC VNIITF. The Moscow experimental design bureau “Mars” has experience in design works, specialists of “Tsifrum” work with machine vision.

    Rosatom Service as an industry integrator in robotics has an ambitious task - to reach the production of 3,000 industrial robots annually by 2030. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve a number of important tasks - to establish its own competence center, commercialize existing scientific developments, and create a training center.

    The main challenges that will have to be solved include staff shortage, lack of training competence centers and service centers, mismatch of existing solutions in the domestic market with consumers' needs, problems with delivery of imported equipment from abroad and some others.

    In the second part of the strategic session, the participants were offered to find options to overcome some of these challenges using real cases from the practice of nuclear industry enterprises. This part of session was moderated by Stanislav Krechetov, General Director of the Industry Center for Innovation Development.

    There were only five cases: “Creation of a mobile robot welder”, “Automation of the fiber packaging section”, “Increase productivity of the welding shop”, “Development of regulations for robotization of an industrial enterprise”, “Decommissioning of a nuclear heritage facility using robotic solutions”.

    Working in teams, participants had to identify the main case problem, understand how the problem is solved now and how it can be solved more efficiently using industrial robots. In addition, the teams had to develop a preliminary roadmap to implement the robotic solution and understand how Rosatom Service can assist in this process.

    “Such sessions help to test the integrator's strategic development hypotheses by comparing them with the real need of the industry's enterprises. They are useful for representatives of industry enterprises because they help to understand the integrator's role and tools in its arsenal. Both parties have benefit from an open dialog because it gives them an opportunity to get reliable and as detailed as possible first-hand information. One of the goals we pursued by holding the session was to create an industry pool of experts who are interested in robotics and who will develop the industry in the future. I believe that the first step towards achieving this goal was successful” said Stanislav Krechetov.

    Based on the data obtained at the end of the industry session, the integrator's strategy until 2030 will be clarified, taking into account the real need of industry enterprises in robotics.
